I just want some help with web page design. I have a domain name, and web hosting through Bluehost. It has basically been sitting unused for a long time, and I finally want to do a little something with it.

Anyone around here willing to pm me, and help me out. I have read a lot of "tutorials" but I still get lost.

For now, just make my index.html have a decent looking page with a title, and I guess a portal linking to sub directories.

Last time I tried anything I ended up with a non scaling colored background that looked like junk, with some text in it.

find something you like, download it

open the files with your favorite text editor, figure out the html
 
even if you know the HTML, it can be helpful to have a web page editor.

i like Netscape 4.79/ Seamonkey; i think Mozilla took over some
revision of Netscape.

Also - a library of web pages that you like the look of.
 
If you can draw a sketch of what you want it to look like, maybe someone here can provide you the code (assuming it's simple enough). I assume you're looking for a static webpage?

There are also websites that provide you with designs, samples and templates that you can make use of. Unfortunately it's too early in the morning for me to think of their URLs.
