Web Hosting

I think this is a pretty good deal especially considering the fact that they support ASP.NET and SQL 2000 for a small fee each month.
Sharp Web Services

$5.50 / month hosting charge
$2.50 / month for SQL 2000 with 25 MB database

Has anyone hosted with SharpWebServices before?

These guys got you all beat. Visit:

http://www.cyberwings.com/hosting/index.html

They charge $7.80/YEAR! (Plan 5: 110MB, Unlimited FTP/email, etc..). They might still be offering there 50% discount! From what i've read in the forums, their service is really good. I emailed them once and got a reply in under a minute (not automated email, but responce from a real person). Even if you find they're not all that good, hey Im sure you can afford to lose out on $7.😉

I use gandi.net and godaddy.com. GoDaddy is a bit cheaper, but I actually prefer gandi.net They charge 12 Euro's I believe, which is about 10.50 USD, great service, no problems.

I've got cyberwings.com Plan5 for $3.90 a year. 110megs, 6gig bandwidth, unlimited email, cgi, ect. I don't see how anyone can really beat that. They also do domain registation for only $9.95 a yr. The only complaint is that it takes them awhile to setup your account. Especially since they are offering the 50% off all webhosting plans.

I've been looking for a web host (ASP, ODBC) also. I used to use a place called Data Packet. They cancelled my account after my credit card number wasn't valid anymore (lost my credit card, forgot to tell data packet). They said they emailed me but I never got any email for some reason. They could have called me because I told them my phone number.

anyways, they have a deal for $10 for a year of hosting. No sign up fee or anything. You get 2GB transfers, and a good amount of space (SQL2000 is extra). I forgot exactly, just go to the site to find out. I'm thinking about resigning up. I had a few outages with them but they were fairly rare and their customer support is really fast sometimes and non-existent other times. I still think a good deal for $10 a year though.

EDIT:
Wow, just looked at it again. it's 5GB of transfers. 500MB storage space. 1 MS SQL database and 1 MySQL database. Just make sure to ask them if it's 5GB transfers per month or per year.

I have been using terrasite.com for web hosting for over 2 years. They support .NET, SQL Server 7/2k...

Check out the $24.95 standard plan. they offer this exact plan on ebay for $51 per year.
Just search on under ebay username auctionsales@terrasite.com
OR Email me and i'll send you the link...

Does terrasite.com really support .NET? All I saw was ASP, no mention of .NET.

<< You can get more for less here. A lot of us here host with them. Great service, very fast servers. >>

I use this also🙂, couldn't be happier!

For web hosting, gotta' recommend Dixiesys .
"Spotted" them here in the Hot Deals forum.
They don't have "everything" (MS stuff, in particular), but quite nice overall.

For domain name registration, gotta' recommend GoDaddy . $8.95 / yr / domain name
Would highly *DISCOURAGE* VeriSign (Network Solutions) - terribly over-priced $29/yr and not straight forward / user friendly interface.

Excerpt from page 6 of SnapNames State of the Domain, Feb. 2002 :

<< "Taking the Up elevator, GoDaddy continues to blow away all others in rate of growth as well as
growth in absolute number of names?clocking a 120% (343,000 names) increase over the past six
months alone."
>>

Dunno' if growing like heck is truly a good or bad sign.
But they're sure are a grow'n!

asp.net, crystaltech.com - if a real site 19.95 a month good component selection and maintenance

brinkster.com has cheaper prices but overloaded servers.

Register.com is the best registrar that I have ever dealt with. It also allows you to make dns entries, and mailbox forwarding...

It is only $20 per year if you call them and ask for a promotion. All it takes is a call. if you dont, you may be stuck with $35 per year.

ColdFusion Hosting------> WebmediaDesign.net
I have been using them for several months now with no issues. The aren't the cheapest around, but who else Guarantees a 50 web site limit on each server?? I think these guys are the only ones out there that do. They don't have all the automated setup bells and whistles, but they seem to be professional, knowledgable, and quick.

Holy smokes, that Datapacket hosting deal looks hot! $10/year with 500mb web space AND 5gb transfer per month!! A much better deal than my current premium plan with Brinkster (I need ASP support). Anyone else have experience with them??

<< Sadly Dixiesys doesn't offer ASP.NET and from what I gather they don't plan of either >>

Does anybody really use ASP for anything anymore? I though it went/was going the way of coldfusion.

Where have you been?
Also, Terrasite.net offers ASP.NET and ASP hosting as part of their standard package, and you can bid on their service for next-to-nothing on eBay, but there is a $50 setup fee, so you end up paying roughly $50/year for their hosting solution.
