well my wife is trying to start a business and needs to register/host a webpage. the domain name is available which is a good thing, but not sure who we need to get to host it. if we reserve the name with say yahoo, can we host it with godaddy? is there a place to get the domain name cheaper? who is the best for small business hosting?(tried looking it up, lots of scatter brain thoughts/reviews came up). any help is greatly appreciated. 🙂

You can try Bravenet.com to buy a domain and get web hosting. They have a lot a free tools and their basic packages are not too expensive. I have also used Hostway.com for the same services. I would say that they are more business oriented than Bravenet and still have competitive pricing.

My personal favorite is HostDome.com:

Nice deals and they use cPanel, which is an easy-to-use control panel for their servers. Been using them for years; they are very reliable.

Most registrars don't care where the website actually lives. The ones that do you should probably stay away from.

You might be able to find deals if you search around, but to me it's not really worth it. For the most part, you're not going to pay more than $10/year wherever you go for the registration. I can't see saving a dollar or two being worth crappy service. I use GoDaddy and have never had any issues. I'm sure others have their recommendations too.

who is the best for small business hosting?
I don't host anything so important that I won't host on my DSL line. You might ask your question in the Networking forum, though. Lots of people in there with more experience.
