Web hosting nameserver question.

nevermind, I found it


I'm changing hosts from my reseller account.

I currently have nameservers of ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com
I signed up with another host requesting that I have my own name servers as well, and I got ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com from him as well.

question being, how do I change where the domain name points to if they are both the same. I was thinking that at godaddy there was a place for the nameserver and ip for them, but I only see a place for the nameserver.

help?
 
Normally the nameservers have to do with the company hosting you raccount and not your website itself. So if you had it hosted at erice.net your names server woudl be ns1.erice.net or something like that.... Not sure how your nameserver can be your own domain name since the nameserver is what tells traffic how to get to your domain in the first place....

godaddy. even though I praised them in the past, it did seem odd to have nameserver editing in two different places.

that said, I found it.
 
Alright, its not strange thats how it is with every domain registrar. One section for nameserver modification and one for private nameserver creation.
 
the second place isn't private nameserver creation.

the two are titled: Nameservers Summary and Domain Host Summary.
You can just edit the nameservers in the nameserver summary, but not the ip. you have to go to the domain host summary to change the ip.

Thats what I get for trying to guess how GoDaddy's system works when I haven't used them for at least a year.
