I want to make a website for my business.

So just to check whether i have my shopping list right...

1) I need the domain name (I have one looked up and its available)
2) I need hosting.
3) Need at least 5 email ids

I dont mind paying for hosting as long its reliable and fast.

My list of questions:

1) If the site is fairly simple, how much bandwidth do I buy?

2) Where do i book the domain name? (namecheap.com?)

3) Where do i buy the web hosting? (I need reliability)

4) Is it sensible to buy the domain name for 3-4 years in one go?

Thanks for your time.

1) ~10GB or maybe less.
2) godaddy.com.
3) Check the forums at webhostingtalk or people here ofter offer hosting (and they will probably chime in).
4) Not the first year. 4/5 times the site dies before the first year is up. If you are solid after the first year then consider it.

Because godaddy has a crappy control panel, and the worst tech support that I've encountered.
maybe I just don't know what I'm missing but with my sites all registered at godaddy, I've yet to have 1 problem navigating the site or getting CS if necessary.

GoDaddy.com has .com on sale for $6.95/yr through July 31.

However NameCheap.com at $8.88/yr is still a better deal, can anyone tell me why?

THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!

Is it because the rates can go up?

"So, your renewal rates will be no higher than the rate you paid when you initially registered your domain name, or what our registration rates were when you transferred your domain name to us (the only exceptions would be if the price the registry charges us increased, or if you took advantage of a limited-time, special price. And if the registry increases our cost, yours will go up only by the amount ours did, never more)."

Tal,

I know that someone here knows why NameCheap at $8.88/yr is a better deal compared to GoDaddy.com at $6.95/yr.

Perhaps search Off Topic for NameCheap.com and you'll find the answer :)

Hello,
In order to set-up an catch-all email box for our email forwarding feature
one would need to use the symbol " * " .
For example; *@yourdomain.com
Although there is no catchall account for the popmail.

No.

There is an actual reason why NameCheap is a better VALUE than GoDaddy is.

I'm probably giving it away but I searched for NameCheap.com and one of the threads has the answer.
