Inspired by some comments in the thread titled: A WEB DEVELOPER'S LIFE. As the title says, post your portfolio, feel free to brag and diss. 🙂

Here's mine. I do all the graphics. I'm the graphics guy for a group of freelance web developers. I do Flash too, and some HTML, javascript and SQL coding if need be. I'm currently in the midst of a largescale Flash project. I'll post it when it's done. 🙂

Well gee...this thread was a big hit.

This would be an interesting topic, as I'm looking at different websites for inspiration towards revising my website (see sig). I have knowledge in HTML, Javascript, and PHP. Any ideas?

It's hard for me to say since I have no idea what kind of site you want to make. Browse the web, collect ideas and get to work! 🙂

Nice work, dude. Pretty slick looking stuff. I like. 🙂

On a sidenote... what range of prices do you guys charge for development of a basic site?

I'm currently talking to my cousin about making a website for their horse-selling business, but I don't really know what price range would be appropriate...

I've read where some people charge like $25 per page. Then there are surcharges for image creation and forms, etc. I think you should go lower since it will be your first site. I'm going to be creating some sites for friends and family pro bono, just for the experience and to put in my portfolio, plus I wouldn't feel right charging them.

I'm sure they will pay me anyway whether I ask or not.

Hey, I see you did some work for IKOS. We did the content management system and US corporate websites for them a while back.

a small project (live demo page) where I am about to pull my hair out or just tell them to leave me the heck alone. when people get things for a small fee, they can't help but *demand* more than what they should get.

of course, my party page from last year. with a flash invitation.

BTW, MrHappyMonkey, what is the file designation of .mv ? I see it as the database for your cook's world website.
Thanks.

AFAIK .MV is a Miva file. So is .MVC

MV = Miva
MVC = Miva Compiled

I've been looking around for ideas. The site is meant as a personal webpage. How do I go about learning Flash, CF, etc. affordably? The local community college doesn't offer anything but Javascript and Perl. Any recommendations for tutorials online?

That's correct. Miva Merchant is a storefront development platform. You can find more info about Miva Merchant at: miva.com

Ah Flash and CF... two awesome tools... they're available as free downloads from Macromedia's site... so start playing. Use flashkit.com for flash help/tutorials, and CF is VERY easy to pick up if you know HTML. It took me 3 short at-work months to get acquainted with the help of a CF for Dummies book... but they don't have those for the latest version. Any of Ben Forta's books are great. But nothing beats hands-on ... just use the CF tags and you'll know what they do. After awhile,... you'll start writing simple code that takes ASPers / JSPers 10-times longer to do. There's your motivation.

See sig... although, it is very old and I haven't opened photoshop for months...😛

only part kind of worth looking at is
here.

This was the most recent portfolio that never made it, as usual. I never finish anything half decent... popup
