Web Developers Are Becoming Complacent!

I just noticed how so many pages on sites I visit regularly are ramping up content and perhaps designing for the bandwidth conservatives are a thing of the past. IMDb's one single static page plumped to 1.5MB; that's insane!

That's pretty outrageous for a page laden with 90% text, and one flash banner.

Wow, look at you! Stop being controversial because it's the next best thing since sliced bread.

I have broadband, and, infact, the page loaded in less than 5 seconds for me. I'm concerned how broadband deployment is still largely restricted to urban dwellers, not to mention it's still priced rather high.

I'm using Opera browser, but I'd imagine even IE would show your download progress on the status bar like Opera does.

#1) I highly doubt it's 1.5mb of text that loads in 5 seconds.
#2) Is sliced bread really all that great?

Well, my suspicion lies with the Flash banner, but my plight remains unwavered. A dialup user would have to wait nearly 5 minutes for the page to load... argh!

And although sliced bread is da bomb, I prefer baguettes myself 😛
