Web designers: How did you figure out Photoshop?

I only know what I've had to do... so learn-by-experience (mess around) is the best way for me. I tried using one of those "how to do" websites but you soon forget the steps if you don't do it enough times.

Wow, nice site. The layout is clean, and the text is easy to read. It doesn't load all that slowly even on dialup. :)

BTW, is that a custom content management system that your friend coded, or did he take a pre-built one and modify it?

Oh, and getting back on topic...

I started out learning by trial and error, but have had various Photoshop books from the library at various times. It's not that hard to learn how to do basic web graphics, but when you get into prepress stuff, it really helps to have a book. :)
