I think it happens in html as well...so.

You totally missed the point.

You should be making flash games, not flash websites. you're very good with flash, but nobody likes flash websites with very few exceptions. Your work is not one of those exceptions :p

I've been looking into games, but haven't gotten into it.

You need to. Your time would be much better spent designing something that people don't cringe at when they see. Not to say your skills aren't very good, because they are. It's just that people don't want to see an extremely complicated, CPU intensive website. They want something simple, elegant, and professional.

The sooner you get in to making flash games the better you'll be. Hell I'd venture to say that with a little more experience or classes or whatever, you could be doing things for major flash animation or flash game websites, possibly making money.

There's no money in flash websites.

Does anyone know how much 2advanced makes or some of the larger webdesign firms? ALways been curious

There are more than 1, your google-fu is weak.

Not to mention you don't need a NEW THREAD everytime you make some microscopic change.... just update one of your exsistng 20 threads

4 threads by my count.

Wow.. with orbital off, I'm at 90% CPU usage, and on, it hovers around 99%... that is f-in ridiculous. I'm sorry, you skilled with Flash, but learn REAL web design if that's what you want to do, not flash.

And ANY, and I mean ANY site that says it requires a 2.0 Ghz PC to run the scripts well is an absolutely joke, hell, that's more than most games require... honestly can you not see how ridiculous that is?

Ur pc is f-ed up. My 1.3ghz runs it at 30fps @40% with it on, 1/4 of that off.

Games use 3d acceleration, my thing is all CPU.

BTW I know real web design, i'm skilled in HTML, but that gets boring fast. I'd go crazy if I didn't have my Flash to play with. Call it an artistic outlet.

Then how do you explain my usage on 2.8Ghz AMD? I ASSURE you its not "F'ed Up"

spyware/viruses

What? that has to be the WORST explaination ever
I have ZERO spyware or viruses. on my machine... and WHY would these spyware/viruses only kick in when specifically viewing your site? And my machine has just about as bad as usage as his does. Trying it on my machine here are work (3ghz Intel) and its at 70% usage with orbital on

Honestly, I will go one step further, while the Flash itself is "impressive" the design is horrible. In the meny drop down you cant even read 90% of the menu items due to their transparency and the background seeping through. Cursor movement is WAY too slow. Its slower than the default windows trackign speed... Font choices don't match the layout at all IMHO either.

I like how you ask us for our opinion, and when we all say we hate it and it kills our comps to run it, you lash out at us...

your website sucks. flash sucks, learn HTML

I find it complete BS that you have no spyway or viruses on your machine. Just by being plugged into the internet your computer has forms of spyware and viruses. some harmful, some good. what browser are you using? what version of flash are you running? how fast is your internet connection. those may be factors on why his site doesn't work well for you.

you do realize btw, that you need to know some html skills in order to put a flash page up. Flash is a much harder language to learn than html. Probably one of the reasons it is shunned in the web community.

PC has never used anythign but FF (slipstreamed into install XP Pro with SP2 and whatever updates were available then...)

I'm sure I have cookies that would show up as "spyware" but I assure you I do not have enough spyware to bump my CPU usage to 60+... not to mention you failed to comprehend that the usage ONLY jumps up when I'm viewing his site.

For your other useless questions:

Flash 7.x
Inet: 5Mb at home 2xT1 at work.

It's shunned because it:

a. Requires a third-party plugin
b. Breaks web UI design principles (e.g. the Back button).

There's a good comment about my menu, I could take off transparancy, but it does go away on mouseover...

what about the reversing of the mouseover, transparent when the mouse isnt on it?

google is SMRT:

Why Flash sucks

Flash sucks for a number of reasons. Here are a few:

* You can't use the browser's Find command to find a word on a Flash page.
* You can't cut-and-paste text from a Flash page.
* You can't use the browser's ?back? button to go back in a Flash file.
* You can't save an image from a Flash site. Let's say you're looking at a nice shiny object that you want to buy on a Flash site. You want to save the image on your hard drive, so you can send it to your significant other so she'll give you the OK to blow your money on the shiny object. Flash won't let you do that - you can't simply save an image on a Flash page, or drag it to the desktop to save it (like you can in Mac OS X).
* To create a Flash website, you need to buy the $500 Flash application from Macromedia; to create an HTML website, you can do so with any free text editor.
* It tempts designers to prioritize using Flash over making an easy-to-use and useful website. In the hands of 95% of designers, Flash is used to create websites that would have been better made as HTML.

You think I don't know HTML???? Lmao, I know it better than most...Most don't know this, but I was the partial owner of voodoolinks.net back in 2000. That's when I did benchmarking and HTML, all in my previous life, of course.

It is. You don't see entire sites running as Java applets :p

Applets can serve some useful purposes, as can Flash, but they should be used to enhance existing HTML-based designs, not replace them.
