Web Design Software for the Dummy...?????

My wife has become a Professional Photographer. She would like a website to show case some of her work so potential clients have something to look at. I am going to attempt this task for her. I am not sure how many different web desgin tools are out there. I do have Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX 2004. Anyone familiar with it? Offer suggestions to a program for this dummy to use?

From what I've heard and seen, dreamweaver is not dummy friendly.

NetObjects Fusion 7.5 (or the newer one)
It's about $100-$125, I think... BUT... www.1and1.com gives it away (for shipping cost of ~$8) when you sign up for web-hosting.
I use 1and1.com for a website because they had a "3 years free" offer about a year ago. Had I not got it for free, I'd have a pretty low opinion of it. There's better hosts -- like www.hostpc.com -- which are easier and cheaper... but the 1and1.com might be useful for a short-term thing + getting NetObjects Fusion for next to nothing. You could always cancel in a month or two.

The software is great. It took me about a day to get used to what things are called and how to set pages up. I occasionally stumble upon "better ways" of doing things -- but you get to the point of feeling productive within a couple hours. Follow their tutorial and you'll put something together in about an hour.
You might try a "half price books" if you have one near you... they often have software that's a version or two (or 5) old for cheap, if money is an issue. That store is a bit like a treasure hunt... sometimes you find something really good, other times not.

I know it's not (I learned some a few years ago), and it's even pretty easy to cookbook a page with a decent book. But I think he was looking for something to walk him through making a page. Is there anything out there like that?
 
Wow... don't know code and have DWmx2k4... I would suggest you delve into Dreamweaver and find (google) as many tutorials as you can find. But if you want to go for the quick start method while still learning proper technique ... you'd need to get with projectseven.com. They sell high quality layouts that are ready to go out of the box... primarily CSS driven (best way to go) and the best part... they also send along very complete and competent tutorials with their packages.

Their Park Avenue Galleries would be a nice package for your wife to build on for a website. And on a final note... DW does have a fairly high learning curve but continues to be about the best of breed product for it's category.... hang in with it if you're serious eh!? ;-)
