Web Design Questions!

My psychology club has entrusted ME with making them a web page. OK, I know how to double click and I know about anandtech, that makes me qualified, yeah! lol

Anyways since my art skills are worse than my HTML, can anyone recommend a website where I can:

1) Get free graphics
2) Get layout ideas, maybe even with color-matching buttons for the side bar
I tried google, didnt see anything very good....

Also, what is the SIMPLEST web design software I can use? I need it to have less unwanted features (no stylesheets thank you), just a page by page editor with maybe a template option so I dont need to copy-paste code. But enough control to make sure my tables are not resizeable, and change cell padding from a menu instead of going through the HTML guide and doing it manually. OH YEA, and the code it puts out has to be readable. Too much to ask?🙂

Thanks

DreamWeaver MX combined with Fireworks MX is almost all anyone will ever need to make great websites.

a good source for graphics and stuff: linky

I know you don't want to do style sheets, but that is the way to go to keep your content format consistent. They're really easy to learn and I suggest you use them. As for software, I think Dreamweaver should suffice, although you might want to go back in and check the code it's writing to make sure it's exactly what you want.

I use dreamweaver although for a newbie you'll probably be more at ease with Frontpage. The code it generates isn't that pretty though...

If you have to build a whole site then maybe you should think of using a Portal system (Yeah I know, some one will talk crap) there are some good ones though, the Nukes are OK and have lots of prebuilt themes you can download, but there are better ones, my brother is using This and it seems pretty cool. I finally broke down a bought Deluxe Portal Here , So far I think it's great, it gets you up and going with very little work, and as you learn about stuff you can design your own look to make it more to your liking.

i think the portal system would be excellent for what you need. it might be a little overwhelming at the beinning, but not any harder than learning dreamweaver. besides, this forum is an excllent resource and you should be able to get all your questions answered here pretty quick. good luck.

Hell, just use Frontpage. Nothing wrong with that when you are first learning. You should try and pick up html itself as you go along though.

Frontpage would probably be best as anyone familiar with Word will find it instantly accessible. Dreamweaver's the better app but not for a beginner.
