well is 2000 enough for a good site?

i can tell you from experience it will be difficult getting anyone with any sort of skill to commit to the 2000 budget. Most developers charge hourly because they know that customers frequently if not always have an increasing demand as the project progresses. I.E. 80 hours into the project they realize they need/want this this and that also. I belive they call this scope creep or something like that. So at 40 dollars an hour she can get about 50 hours worth of work out of a decent developer. This will likely not yield what she wants. A professional website requires a professional being paid professional wages.

These days, just use templates and save her some money. Unless she has a reason the flash needs to incorporate her company name, etc. (which some templates actually allow to a certain degree), there's no reason to get a professional Flash developer involved anymore. Another thought is if she needs flash-db interactivity (which is really cool by the way... you really pay for it though). At any rate, they can charge up to $75/hour for Flash alone and no scripting. Some even more.

If you still want someone, then I agree with the guru.com recommendation. Hell even hit flashkit forums (jobs thread) or were-here forums (jobs section).

check out the link i posted above. most of those flash templates come with everything you need to customize it (title, body, headers&footers, etc.)... you just need to pay the "unique" price so noone else uses it (usually around $1500).

^ wow interesting bit about the unique price taking it off the shelves for good. Interesting idea. I wouldn't do it. 😉 Besides, that just allows you to modify certain objects / text in the flash. It doesn't allow more complex animations with a personalized logo, etc. to happen. It's only customization to a certain degree. Again, he has to weigh his options and see if spending that kind of money for a real developer is really worth it for their "artistic flare".

true, but if you want something that complex, you better hire a developer/designer 🙂 if there's scripting involved, that can run around $100/hour.

I know, she is such a cutie 🙁 I wish I could get more people to put it in their signatures 🙁

She got the perfect name too 😉

Hell I'm just doing some database stuff on the side and I'm already charging $1500. For flash I'd charge at least another $1000, $1500 won't get you much.
