Web cam maximum distance?

I'm thinking of getting a web cam for monitoring purposes, so it'll be some distance away from the computer.

Is there any issue with distance? If I go with a web cam solution, I'll be getting a 5m+5m USB extension cable for it (couldn't find a 10m one in the local stores).

Quality with USB can degrade after a certain distance. I wouldn't suggest going over 25 feet.
