Hey everyone

Recently I cleaned a backdoor trojan out of my system. Since then, I havent been able to type one word websites and hit control + Enter to get the Http://www.(websitename).com I'm thinking its just something I nuked outta the registry, but not sure. Anyone know where the setting for this would be in the registry?

Thanks in advance.

Ok maybe I worded this wrongly...

When I type in a website address, I usually clear out the address bar, and type in the word "ebay" then hit control + enter and it fills in the http://www. .com around it. Now when I do that, I get an ie.search.msn.com page that pops up...

Anyone know how to fix this?

1) use Notepad to open C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\HOSTS, and post the contents

2) right-click and save this text file, download the scanner and unzip it as directed, and when you're done here for the night, reboot your computer in Safe Mode and run the scanner using the command in the text file, then PM me the results if they're interesting 🙂

Thanks for the link. It didnt find anything when I ran it, so I will take it that my computers clean for the time being. Just cant get the CTRL +Enter trick to work for me anymore.

BTW here is one more notion, look at the setting on this tab in your Internet Options, or hit the Restore Defaults button there. Maybe also go over to the Programs tab and click the Reset button. Good luck! 😕
