Web based file manager

I'm looking for a good web base file manager that utilizes user rights. I've tried phpXplorer and PHP advanced transfer manager they're ok, but I wanted to see what other ones are out there? I've scavenged the web for about 3-4 hours looking for good, free file managers and these are the only real ones I've found. Graphical nav is a plus, user info stored in a mysql db would be nice too instead of storing it in files on the server. Quasar storage showed some promise but my host has register_globals off so it wont install correctly. Any suggestions?
 
Have you searched sourceforge.net for web based file managers? my quick search came up with a number of ftp based managers with web front end. I'm not sure if any of them have the features you need though.

I think the biggest problem you're going to run into is that PHP doesn't handle really big file uploads very well. So if you are going to pursue this, make sure it's for smaller files that will transfer reasonably fast. Otherwise you'll be needing to tweak the PHP.ini quite a bit.

Yeah, most of what I found on source forge didn't have any login validation. I'm not too concerned about large files as most of the files that will be uploaded will be pdfs under 500k
