Web based download manager

Red Squirrel

I use Transmission for torrents and I like how I can manage download speed and so on, as well as pause/unpause, and the fact that it's happening on a separate server so if I reboot my machine I don't interrupt anything.

I was thinking it would be cool to have something like this for ftp/http downloads as well, perhaps with torrents built in too. Is there such app/script out there? I'd want it to be web based too. Would probably not be that hard to write, actually, but wondering if it's already been done.

Guess that works, but something where I can pause/trottle view progress etc... would be nice.

I do often use wget too though if I want the download to happen on a separate server. I have to reboot this machine often so I try to avoid any processes from being done here.

For example I just finished downloading every version of Linux Mint, because, why not, I just got fibre. 😛 Firefox seems to choke quite a bit at big downloads though, when I tried to start a second one it just locked up while trying to load the folder selection box. So ended up just using wget and opening a bunch of console tabs. If my PC locked up and had to be rebooted I'd lose those though unless I try to get into the habit of using "screen" all the time. Suppose that could work.
