web activitity monitoring

I'm looking for options to monitor my pre-teen's Internet activities. I'm not looking for 100% monitoring/screen shots, or key recording, I just want to know what sites he went to and at what time of the day.
Currently I use his web history and my router's log, but those don't tell me when the site was accessed. So I don't know if he played runescape*before* his homework or after for example.

I'm of the "trust but verify" school. I'd like to keep the mystique of "daddy will know somehow" for a few more years.

I don't really want to spend money 🙂 I was hoping to find a "super browser history" Firefox add-on, but haven't found anything yet.

Are you on Vista? If so, the parental controls built into the OS are surpisingly good. I was looking for a similar solution and discovered the integrated parental controls that worked out nicely.

The XP parental controls might also give you what you need, you should check them out!

I just upgraded my last XP machine to Vista, so I can't verify that. I do know that Vista will block by category, by white list/black list, and keyword. It will also keep pretty detailed logs. This might be enough reason to upgrade to Vista...
