I have a friend with a lakehouse a few hours away.. He wants to setup a couple of remote access cameras (preferably one that is outdoor-capable). Ideally with an easy to use web access setup. He has an always-on DSL connection..

Wireless would be nice..

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I've used a couple of Linksys WVC54GCA and they work pretty well. Wireless or wired connections, and you can access it by a browser. costs < $100. This one isn't "outdoor-capable" but you can just set it looking out a window.

Keep in mind though that "wireless" still needs a power cable :)

I've got one of these looking out my window at the driveway.

Comes with recording software for 1 camera. I record 2 fps 24/7 at 640x480. They have fancier models that will PTZ. Plugs into the router. The wireless version is BL-C10a but I don't see it on Amazon, goes for about $100 more.

The wired version is good to start with, you can buy 100 feet of RJ-45 cable if you want to run it through an attic across a house. And yes, no matter what version you buy, still needs to be powered with a plug.
