I think this one only brocast, if there is emergency at "standby" and "auto" mode...

(where I live, never really encounter any disaster..)
Just say FM/AM radio works quite nicely.

No problem, TimeKeeper. I actually didn't mean it to sound like a flame...although I guess it did. :(

This unit has 7 different channels and when you get the one that comes in strongest it broadcasts 24/7 with a computer synthesized voice. It also has a day/date/time with alarm and the LCD light for night readouts and a temperature readout of the ambient temp. Good deal at 4.88. The website says the MSRP was 69.95.

Oh yeah, also has a compass so you can find your way home.;)

Yes....but not as cheap as OD sold them....even if you buy from another anandtecher and pay shipping, it is still way cheaper.

I have a new WR8000 Oregon Scientific Weather radio (the yellow portable model) that I would to trade for the Moonphase gizmo (BA928) or the Weather clock gizmo ( BAR-888). Anybody interested. Thanks

I went to my local OD last night, and they had 3 of the WR8000's in stock. They don't look like such a hot deal for $4.88. The original price tag says they were $9.99 before.

Mine just went off with an alert that did scare the crap out of me!:Q

It's just a flood warning for the area (very cool feature) but it went off with a loud buzz like the emergency broadcast system tests that you hear on the radio periodically.
I was able to get the cattle to higher ground just in time!;)

Found the last one (no box/manual) at the Champaign, IL store. Gave accurate weather reports while I was driving back to Chicago. Nice item to have when you're on the road or camping.
