Went to a funeral last week, no less than three women were wearing red shirts/jackets.

Don't ask me where I got the idea, something I read a long time ago, probably.

I guess it would depend on the funeral? For example, traditional chinese funerals you shoudl NOT be wearing red.

Maybe the funreal requests were a little odd?
My mother has in her will that she does NOT want people wearing black.

Could go either way....what kind of funeral? what kind of person? This is a case by case kind of thing.

As a random fact people used to wear white to funerals instead of black until some queen somewhere wore black once...Not that it relates but i thought of it.

Red's fine with me...i really don't care if everyone dresses up like at my funeral. They can all dress up like the ninja turtles for all i care.

Typically some1 that dresses in red at a funeral is being disrespectful especially if the person died tragically.

when my brother in law died this summer, he requested that no one wear black to his funeral. he requested fuschia, actually. he *hated* fuschia, but said that was the one day it was acceptable to wear it. bright colors, loud prints were the order of the day. even the pastor wore a hawaiian shirt. it was quite festive.

More info: The deceased was a white Protestant, so were the women wearing red. I never heard of any requests about funeral attire, I don't think there was time as the death was pretty unexpected, but I'm fairly sure I would have heard if there had been. I am absolutely certain there was no disrespect intended.

I know there is a results button, but you know there are people who will hit 'vote' without hardly looking at the options. ATM, we have 5 votes for results, which proves my point. We also have 14 yes's, and 14 no's. Velly intelesting...

Why do people care about things like this? Maybe I'll just put a request that everyone at my funeral be nude just to spite these retarded color rules that people make up.

I dunno, wear red and he might get up out of that casket and kick your disrespectful ass. ;)

I was just wondering if it was a cultural thing, or a taboo that's fallen by the wayside, is all.

Funerals are different a all over the world. Some try to be a joyous event where the great things in a person's life are celebrated and others are so somber and heart wrenching that even people who didn't know the guy cry. There is no hard set rule. Ever.

Edit: And these are just the ones within the same branch of christianity that I know of.
