What? The public thinks less of a war hero because some kid wears something similar to him?

I'm not seeing the logic here.

How will the public know who the real hero is?

It'll be those "youts" that will be society. They aren't going to be abandoned for fashion choices they made whilst young.

Most youts grow up however, I was talking about being abandoned while they're still youts.

I dont think most people get medals to go "Look at me I've got a medal" and wear them in public. Its pretty obvious that the spotty 17 year old with a medal pinned to his (p)leather jacket isnt a decorated war vet.

Society also isnt going to abandon "youts" for being "youts".

As a slightly related aside, did you know why a trench coat is called a trench coat. (its pretty obvious when you think about it).

Until that kid wanders past a veterans rights rally or similar. I say society will abandon that yout to the consequences.

Society abandons youts for being youts all the time. When was the last time you saw a skater getting respect from adults on the street for his mad shredding skills?

Worn in the trenches by the British.

Yeah, that bastard Bogart pretending that he'd been in the trenches.

I think society has already spoken about beating the crap out of people for no good reason (and not liking what they are wearing is not a good reason for beating someone up).

You might be relying on that skater kid to mash up your food and feed it to you when your in the old persons home, I wouldn't diss them too much.

Not the same type of trench coat and without military regalia. 🙂

All of which wouldn't keep the kid from being beat up would it?

I've never seen a skater kid in an old folks home but, there's always hope. The point is the rules of society are rarely written and change when you're not looking but, flouting them has consequences.

Skater kids don't stay Skater kids. They become doctors and nurses and politicians.
Those "youts" will be in charge of your life when you're old.

Meh, wearing military garb as fashion has been going on for hundreds of years at least. I think society will cope.

I wear military garb every day. It's the most suitable clothing for work. Military stuff is also my preferred general outdoor gear. It might not be the most stylish/comfortable/light/whatever..., but it has bulletproof reliability.

They will become doctors and nurses and politicians because they changed the way they think. They grew up. I'm trying to give them the chance to.

So, it will. Tell me what's the first thought you have when you see someone on the street wearing a fatigue jacket from the 70's? I'm willing to bet 'edgy fashion choice' isn't it.

"Practical". Whether or not they think so, I couldn't care less. Hopefully they learn to appreciate the build quality, cheap price, and tasteful colors, regardless of the original reason for purchase.

Not talking about you, me or, our vowel challenged friend, I'm talking about society.

Dunno, but society has been digging my USAF survival knife I carry every day. From other workers, to a girl at McDonalds. Who knew it would be the hottest fashion accessory this year? :^D

Gotta be your rugged good looks and manly charm. Your accoutremande had nothing to do with it. 😀
