"We have taken the decision to release the footage to show the level of violence used, and ask the public for help in apprehending the persons responsible.

"We believe the victim was targeted by the suspects to steal his watch. We are keen to identify them and would ask anyone to come forward."

Roy is now planning to fundraise enough money so he can replace his prized gold Rolex Yachtmaster worth £15,000.

He said: "My aim is to raise money to replace the watch. Life has been hard for me."

you can help if you want by donating to his fundraising for a new watch.

If I had started this thread I would have changed the title to read "BUYING a 21,000 USD watch in public not a good idea".

To be fair, he was in a private office, not exactly in public.

I don't personally have any watches worth more than $3K, though I have a couple that are worth roughly that. At some point I will probably get a rose gold Jaeger-LeCoultre dress watch that will cost in the neighborhood of $10K.

I have a client who, after we had taken his private jet on a business trip to the East Coast, realized he had left 4 very high-end watches, with a total value of $300K, and his pistol in a hotel room safe in another city. We ended up working it out. Definitely not my lifestyle, but if you earn it you can spend it however you want.

How hard is your life if you can blow $20,000 on a watch?

lulz...

"They tried to take my ring too but they couldn't get it off my finger. I have an Aston Martin as well and I wanted to pass the watch down to my kids.

"I will never be able to afford another one."

how bout selling your aston martin and get a "normal" car?

it is fucked up what they did though hope they get caught.

My question is.... what's the probability of someone actually wearing a legit $21,000 watch vs a $50 fake? Did these guys not know and just get lucky that it was real? Or... if they didn't, how did they know it was real?

they probably know him on a personal level or are friends of someone who does.

If this is the case, you would think they would do it anywhere BUT his office because, well, you know... cameras/alarms/etc? Then again, criminals are usually dumb as shit. Hope they get busted.

People don't buy jewelry like that to tell time, they buy it to flash it. He probably shoved it under the nose of everybody who ever got within 50 feet of him. They could have seen him in a bar, restaurant or just buying a paper at a kiosk.

If you can afford a $21K watch, whats the big deal.
If you can't afford one, then no, it's stupid to wear it around.

I don't get this dude at all.
He's starting a fundraiser? He has an Astin Martin?
This dude isn't poor. He's a moron.

Real good idea, let's all donate money for him to buy a new watch so another thug can choke him for a second time to steal his expensive watch. He might've lost some brain cells there while he was deprived of oxygen.

Something seems fishy with this. They guy just passed out from a choke hold but has no other injuries?

Also, why mention the car at all? So he has an Aston Martin but they don't say what model or how old it is. Those things depreciate like you wouldn't believe and picking one up that is 10 years old could cost no more than a new 3 series BMW.

Well, it is his "cherished Aston Martin" so I'm guessing it's a pretty nice car. Most people don't cherish jalopies.

He has SEVEN kids under 15 years old. I'm thinking that $21k could have been spent better elsewhere.

Purchasing a watch for 21k is not smart in my book.....so obviously wearing it is even less smarter.

You can buy authentic Rolex watches used for much less than what they cost new. And by authentic I mean a real Rolex with box and papers. You just have to know what to look for so you don't end up getting scammed.

I was looking at a $10k Date Just II last summer (new), stainless steel with diamond number markers. Very nice watch and I would wear it daily if I bought it.

Kind of looking at Chronographs now though.

Every watch I have ever worn got beat to hell in a year or two. I would much rather spend $20,000 on guns and ammo than a watch.

Cherished doesn't mean anything. It could be an 8 year old Aston Martin and still be in pristine condition and worthy of "cherishing." The fact that it's an Aston Martin doesn't mean he spent $250k on it is all I'm saying.

I just found a 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage on Autotrader for $59k. Car has only 20,000 miles on it. So, for the price of a new Ford F250 you could be driving what is essentially a few years old super car.

We have a close friend in the family that is a huge watch enthusiast and works in the industry. 🙂

I know there are million dollar watches! I'm not saying they are not worth the price or masterpieces.

I'm just saying it's just a watch, and TO ME....spending that kind of a money on one is....not smart

🙂
