weak raid benchmark...

just put in two wd800jb's running raid 0 with my onboard highpoint 372 controller (on my epox 8k3a). have updated to the latest bios. everything is running fine but im only getting like 400 in pcmark 2002, i got 300 with my single wd 30 gb drive. any ideas? onboard controller not going to cut it?

1. RAID0 is not all it's hyped up to be.
2. WD SE drives don't play well when in RAID0.

Either that or his computer sucks...

Seriously though, don't feel bad......IDE RAID never shines as much as it is supposed to.

If you look around these forums you'll see a few people saying the same thing about the 372. I use the 374 on my board, and I can tell you that the difference between a single drive and a RAID0 setup is VERY noticeable.

I have a 372a controller and my drives are quite fast in a raid0 array using a 64K stripe.


PC Mark 2002 is not a reliable benchmarking program. Try HDTach or ATTO.

I havent run a single benchmark since going RAID, but I can clearly see how much faster the drives are when Im doing my audio or video editting. Those large files are written much faster than before, and never with any hiccup.
