Weak laser when burning....HELP!

Anyone ever have a burner that had this problem? The burn seems to go fine, but it takes a while to "close the session", and when I look at the CD it seems that the burn is not very "deep" or "even" on the CD. When trying to read the disk, it takes my CD ROM a long time to read the disk and sometimes it will not read it at all.

I'm realizing that maybe the laser is dying on this thing. Anything I can do?? It's only about 2 and a half years old and I know it is slow (4 x 2 x 24) but money is tight and I don't know if I have any options other than tossing this piece of s#it in the trash. (ARRGH!!)

I will probably have to get a new one, but just wanted some input and or thoughs from anyone.

Thanks.

🙂

BTW, the burner is a Creative 4224E 4x2x24

Are you using 700MB disks? Some burners, especially older ones, have problems with those.

I've used both and the result is the same.
