"We will win"??

That is a quote by George Bush, BTW. I admit I have never like him much, although these days i tried to stay unbiased towards him.😉 However, this quote just doesn't make sense. "We will win"?? At what??What is there to win at? How will we know when we have won? And then there's another quote that confuses me, "We will not fail". What is there to fail at? How can we fail? I don't think these are really valid statements considering there really is no tangible goal. Can anyone enlighten me, or does anyone agree that these quotes are only good enough for the general public and hold no meaning?

"We will win" the war against terrorists is what I believe he has been referring to since the tragedy of Sept. 11.

What is he going to say? "Ummm...well, I don't know" Would you want that from the leader of your country?

Haervii--You are on TV, and every major news station has a camera pointed at you. 100 million people are watching you. How do you end your speech? "Yea, I guess we'll win ..."?

<< In a war everyone looses. >>

Eh... maybe they loosen up, I wouldn't think so. But yeah, everyone in a war loses.

Yup. Except the farmers. Only the farmers win

Or, alternatively. In a war, everyone wins...just ask Saddam Hussein whose been telling his countrymen that Iraq came away with a victory ever since the Gulf War ended

There is no "winning" this war, there are only varying degrees of losing. Terrorism will always be around. It can never be truly eliminated even if you were lucky enough to eliminate every person practicing it now. The best that can be hoped is that its extremely difficult to do, and currently its obviously too easy.

I agree...but I think we will definitely lose less by doing whatever war is going to happen than if we were to do nothing...

I think this will never be anything more than a long, ongoing police-type investigation though I wouldn't be shocked if we have a couple big strikes on terrorist bases...just for show

But these people could be any of the civilian, you can never tell!
These are people he convinced to do his suicide mission, to take out as Americans as possible and accusing us as the evil empire. Because we are powerful and big, they are very jealous, and very hateful at the same time. As long as their is Afganistan left alive, there will alway be some terrorists left alive to do the hide, seek and destroy mission.
Bush is a wimp, a coward, and a true believer himself. It is ridiculous to put up with a leader like him who has no guts and a lack of intelligent thats keeping us from being victorious.
I want action now, no more talk. He was quite disappointing resolving matters with China before and now isn't any different, only that this one is alot more serious issue, that need to be dealth with and fast too.

Cyrix: I agree completely. We need another FDR at a time like this!🙂

Skoorb: I think you hit the nail on the head. Evil cannot be eliminated,
or else everyone on earth would have to die:Q Not even terrorism, as the common saboteur
can be considered a terrorist. Not even muslim fundamentalists, because to do that you would have to wipe
out Islam, and that of course is impossible.

Capn: Yeah, what are our goals? and does anyone outside of the Pentagon even know?

ya might not be able to eliminate evil but that's no reason to not bash it's head in once and a while....F... those bastards!

We will have battles on many different fronts........................."we will win".

We will fight these battles on the terrorist's financial side......"we will win".

We will "smoke them out of their holes"......."we will win".

We will "get them running"........"we will win".

"The american people will have to be forever vigilant."...................."we will win"

What PART of "we will win" confuses you? GWB has been MORE THAN CLEAR about this war and what it will take to fight it. I don't think that he has said, or there are any prospects of this war being over forever. I think that the administaration has been clear that this war has no real end. It will always keep popping up and we will constantly have to keep stomping it out wherever it is.

If you're implying that this war will have no true end, you're right. GWB has said no different, he's made this a cabinet-level concern and has sent everybody in his administartion to say as much. If you're implying that he is being dishonest, IMO, you're just wrong.

Ok...maybe most of those things we will accomplish, except battles on many fronts...I don't see
that happening unless it's figurative. But "winning" usually means the opponent has been defeated, and
terrorism being the opponent, that sure won't happen. I don't even see why the
American People have to be vigilant, because most of this ":war", the American People won't even know
what's happening.

"We will win" the War on Terrorism.

Its 100% physically, and undeniably, impossible to win the war on terrorism if your opinion of winning is defeating terroism from the world.

Terrorism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Think that the Bush administration will get rid of that? Its been going on as long as the human race has been around, and will continue until the human race is finished. Terrorism is like evil, it simply cannot be eradicated. The best the gov't can hope to do is elimintate the major players and get rid of the "big fish" as well as increase defense against it.

Anybody who thinks that once the Bush admin has done what they want to do terrorism will be gone forever is living in a pathetic fantasy world.

They won't know about the military operations, but the fight begins when one citezen says "I live near an army base, there are 4 guys that I can identify next door that I rarely see, they have alot of visitors at 3am EVERY night, they unload a truck every now and then, I never see anything carried OUT of that house and I never see them go to work". GWB is right. Vigilance is the key. It's war-time.
