Hey, we're not much above being poor college students either... :D

Life is short, if you want to do this, even if just once, you should do so. The cost is reasonable, if not "cheap", but the experience will last a lifetime...

I would call it mild, but noticeable...

It was like a gentle tugging rather than a jerking force.

The chute opens over 3 to 4 seconds, so it doesn't hit you all at once. The deceleration is weird at first, but really, really cool!!! It is like you're cheating, by being able to stop your rate of decent and enjoy the view. :D

Send me the tape or copy of it and I'll put it on the computer for you. I'll even burn it to DVD if you want. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the pics. Sounds like you two had fun.

Me: I'm too chicken to try it. Same fear of heights + responsibilities to my family = not gonna happen! And then I couldn't do it even if I convinced myself I wanted to, cuz If I survived, the divorce would cost me a lot more than what you have listed above. :D

I only met Hopper a week ago!
So, What's the deal?

Yep, I had a blast!!! :D

I should have done this years ago, but I too was letting my fears get the better of me.

We were in far more danger driving there than we were skydiving.

LOL! :D

I haven't told Thumper about this yet, it will be interesting to see how she takes it...

With what? We're friends, isn't that obvious? :D

Plus, she went sky diving with me, which makes her super cool too! :p

My fiance is deathly afraid of heights or I'd consider it with her. I surprised her for Valentines and took her up on my buddy's plane (he's a pilot) and she wasn't exactly "relaxed" ... especially when I took the wheel in mid-air. ;)

I'd love to try it anyway... but at $300 ?! Hell no.

I'm deathly afraid of heights too, you just have to will yourself to get over that part.

I think with more exposure, that fear goes away once you see it is nothing to fear at all.

She was probably uninformed about what all was going on, and what could happen and what was happening.

A pinch-hitter course for non-pilots is a wonderful way to get them comfortable in the cockpit of a small airplane.

I'd love to try it anyway... but at $300 ?! Hell no.
$300 is just the first jump, and includes the full day ground school. Jumps 2 and 3 are $190 each, Jumps 4 though 7 are $160 each, after that you usually are signed off to jump solo, doing another 20 to 30 jumps, working towards your "A" license.

Each solo jump is at the cheaper prices I posted.

We went over all procedures from start to finish, praticied emergency produres (how to release a bad main chute and deploy the reserve for example), and went over all the hand signals and other parts of a sky dive.

If all else fails, each chute has a CYPRES installed which is microprocesser controller and automaticly deploys the reserve chute at 750 feet if you are still desending at more than 29 feet per second, which means your main chute hasn't deployed (or failed and you can't release it for whatever reason).

Wow, that's actually a lot of instructions.. i thought it would only be an hour at the most. If it really did take that long, then $300 is definitely fair.

i've always wanted to go skydiving, especially at night. Hopefully when I'm in the AF i'll get a chance, and hopefully for way less than $300...that sounds a bit ridiculous, as does a $1300 investment to be able to jump for $20.
