Yep. Wouldn't surprise me.

Give me a fucking break...that guy is a grade A wacko bible banger. A forum dedicated to this bullshit? I bet you some atheist probably runs the site for ad revenue.

Pathetic people I tell you.

Not in Catholic, Episcopalian, Eastern Orthodox, etc

I think the only religions that believe in a rapture is Baptist and possibly Calvinists?

No biblical basis I know of, but I'm no bible scholar

A couple vague verses that kinda seem Rapturesque. Slightly more than what constitutes "Pro-Life" Biblical proof. IOW, you gotta look at it at the correct angle, slightly off and you'll miss it.

I very badly want to go home, too. I feel alienated from this world with its ungodly ways. I know it's selfish of me (because I guess we SHOULD want to stay a bit longer so we can evangelize some more...), but I wanna go RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! Reply With Quote

Wow...the angst is strong with this one.

I've never been in a church that discussed the concept of rapture but I've always took it for granted that people knew what it was. I just assumed it was some concept that isn't part of mainstream dogma but is an idea that somehow has permeated throughout. It sounds like the kind of thing traveling evangelists would profess.

There are baptist churches near me, several unaffiliated with each other, who actively preach about the rapture. They range from rather mainstream baptist to outright wacko. I know I learned what it was from a Calvinist, so I figured it was part of Calvinist doctrine. Seems to fit in with pre-destination and such. I dunno about all in those groups, there isn't a centralized church for those.

Its mainly those that follow the book of revelations like its word for word from God, instead of the ramblings of an old man banished to an island. The whole antichrist , second coming, some people being saved while others suffer, etc , seems to give them hope 😕

I'm ok with them as long as they just post to each other on their silly little forum and don't try to legislate their morality on all the rest of us. But yeah, some of those people are just seriously broken.

That's apparant. It's a common theme in evangelical circles, and the doctrine is quite old, though nobody harps on it like evangelicals do.

And on an unrelated note, it amused me that Steve53 said "This world is strange to me now. I feel like I don't belong. The feeling of strangeness gets stronger every day....", it's just so ironic.

I know Catholicism denounces the concept of the rapture. That was made quite evident in my teachings growing up. I had always learned that it wasn't that old a doctrine (as far as Christianity goes), only cropping up in the later stages of the Protestant Reformation.

What is the biblical basis for it? I assume in Revelations? I never really learned that part of the bible in catechism.

Oh, they're doing more than that...they're actually preparing for it. I spent about 15 minutes looking at some of the other threads (and there is very very little activity on that message board) and those guys are stockpiling guns, ammo, food supplies. It's like a bad Robin Williams film from the 80s (The Survivors)...or a 1970s zombie film.
