If you have ever worked retail you would know, those reactions dont even get close to what some people will actually do. I have been on the receiving end of some.

I do, sadly for over 7 years now. Since our target has a much higher price point than a whopper i expect more assholishness out of them. I did not expect this level for a whopper

"Have you ever heard the phrase the customer is always right?"....LOL, great flick.

I can't believe none of the people there recognized the "manager" as an actor from various comedies. Can't think of where I've seen him or what his name is though, and I consider myself a movie buff, so mebbe I CAN believe no one recognized him...

It's funny which ones they selected to play. Of course they didn't choose all of the ones from people who didn't care and either left or ordered something else.

Doesn't surprise me that the manager was an actor. They needed to make sure that person could be convincing enough to the customers. A real BK manager might have flubbed it.

And to those who think all the customer reactions were faked... you must never have worked with the public before. I'm 100% certain they were all real. Like rezinn said, you film a couple hundred reactions and use the ones that make for good commercials. There were no doubt plenty of customers who just shrugged and said, "OK, then give me a double cheeseburger."

There are a LOT of people who freak when they don't get what they want. Some can't handle change, some have a distorted sense of entitlement, some are just having a bad day.

kranky is right, I also believe the reactions are real. I did the fast food thing in high school, and people are stupid sometimes.

But I find it funny that a bunch of net nerds think they know how marketing should work, rambling off about a couple of commercials being stupid, when in fact, you all are sitting here talking about it (regardless if you like them or not).

Burger King - 1, Anandtech Net Nerds - 0

Oh, and I think I'll get me a whopper for lunch today. Around my parts, Burger King is considered the trailer park of restaurants, and I try to stay away, but the Whopper ranks right up there with the six-dollar burger from Hardee's as the best burger in big-chain fast food.

I haven't had a whopper in like 10 years and probably haven't been to BK in over a year, but these commercials are strangely alluring. I find myself wanting to try a whopper now just to see what I'm missing out on. 🙂

i couldent care any less about the whopper, its not that good and way to messy, i cant recall that last time i ate one, i actually dont think ive been to BK in the past year or so

i normally just go to Taco Bell or Arbys if im going to get some FF

kranky is completely correct.....not surprising they had to use an actor for the "canned" lines.

And as for the customers......completely believable reactions. Some people are so conditioned to having exactly what they want, when they want it, that any change in their predictable lives, no matter how trivial or small, throws them into fits.

now just imagine if hot topic ran out of black nail polish - he'd have kittens

LOL! I just wonder how anyone outside a foot radius of him can understand him talking, though. He covered his mouth with his feminine little hand every time he twittered.

Screw the whopper.
You could get the same thing, and much cheaper by ordering the double cheeseburger. Ask to add lettuce, onion, and tomato, and add mayo, minus mustard.
Double Whopper Jr. for $1.20.

Why is that funny? Showng the people who didn't care would just be stupid on BK's part.

I personally thought it was a very stupid commercial...
I mean if you did the same thing at McDonald's or Wendy's you'd get similar reaction. It's called cutting and pasting. Whatever customer gets upset the most gets on TV. People have their favorite sandwiches. And the people who got pissed when a whopper wasn't in their bag, that is the dumbest thing ever. I would get pissed if what I ordered wasn't in my bag also I want what I paid for! Especially if its from a different place then where you were at. Very terrible commercial. Although the customers may be real, this is very FAKE.

I work at Kohl's and if we made a commercial of hidden camera of our customers we would get the "THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 7.99 not 8.59!" And then I would say, "Nope, can't change it" The would either go "I want to see a manager" or "I don't want it, I'm never coming here again"

I get that crap a lot especially when people just say "That's not the price I saw, take it off" I wouldn't minded doing the price change but jeez, don't yell at me, it's not like I mess the prices up on purpose.

Or maybe of a guy that brought a video camera up to the register and when I scanned it, it came up to 99.99. But he himself put a clearance sticker that said 19.99. He was trying to force me to change the price I simply said "Sir, this is an electronic, I am just going to call the department to confirm the markdown" and he said "Never mind I won't take it" Can't believe how stupid and cheap people can be.
