We should all wait because doom 3's release date is 11/15/2003 and most other upcoming graphic intensive games are scueduled for early 2004. I think we should just hold off till prices go down, theres no need for 9800 with current games.

Just my opinion

You care when and how other people spend their money? Why?

I say you should wait till Q2 04 to upgrade your cpu, because some games will be coming out then. You have no need of a cpu till then.

What? You don't care what I say? Why not?

Stop exaggerating dude... The guy is clearly just trying to inform people so they can save a few bucks if they "wish" to.
Use your head.

What if Doom 3 sucks?

Dude have you seen the AL (alpha leek) that was based on technology last may at E3 and its still jaw dropping a year later.
Does anyone know if it can only be run on a DX9 card? Just curious, I'm chillin with a 9700 Pro, looks spectacular.

Use yours. He has absolutely no reason whatsoever to "advise" us to hold off buying VGAs. I didn't exaggerate either, I did EXACTLY the same thing, only substituting a cpu for a VGA, to illustrate how ludicrous his original post was.

Who buys what, when, why where is nobody's business but their own.

Here-
I'm not going to buy a nV35 till the first price cut. Join me, it's foolish to pay $400-$500 for a VGA.

This is not "informing", it's just dumb, useless "advice".

I assure you that Doom3 will not be released this year. Don't you remember the famous quote, "When it's done!".
No sense depriving oneself of utmost speed AND visual splendor in games like Splinter Cell, Unreal2, and UT2K3. The only sure bet IMO for this year is Half-Life 2. And I think it is clear that the 9800pro is gonna play it very well, so long as the CS issues don't re-incarnate themselves.
But otherwise, this is one of those things where waiting does nothing but age you. :(

So what? You had absolutely no reason to reply to his post, but you did anyway. Proof that people do things they don't absolutely have a reason for, like my post here. Just because they have a reason you may not agree with (to state a personal opinion) doesn't mean they haven't got a reason Rollo. Personally, I think you just get off on complaining, seeing as how you do it so often.

You disagree with it, big deal. I'm beginning to think that's a compliment to his post, given the childish way in which you present yourself.

When you get your issues sorted out, come talk to me. Until you learn to be congenial and not in a constant argument ready state, do us all a favor and dont even touch your computer. Just stay off. Read a novel, take up knitting, I don't care. Just calm down will ya? Oh, and cut out the coffee or any other caffiene inclusive substances. Take 2 personality pills and type to us in the morning.

Have a good weekend everyone. Gone Fishing.....

Mmhmm, because graphics make a game, and gameplay doesn't matter.

imo, this is one person's efforts to bring down the demand for the card, therefore making the price drop.

ATI's stock price dipped as soon as this thread reached the news wires. bsr musings are a known indicator of consumer buying habits.

John Carmack = cutting edge = consumers spending cash $$$. Cha ching!

I will be in the market for a new graphics card once D3 hits the shelves and I'm sitting pretty right now. You are going to need a great sound card and graphics card to fully enjoy this one. This game will (does rock) AL in 5.1 scarry as hell.

id's technology has been good (at least for small indoor maps) but their games have been blah. D3 screen shots are not so impressive -the lighting effects are overdone and the human like creatures are too angular. Feh.

Actually the posters advice was perfectly good advice. Sometimes people get carried away with upgrading... forget that theres no point in upgrading a video card if you cant even take advantage of the card yet, or already have a perfectly good one... it just means your addicted to blowing money on your computer.
