🙁This is a lot harder than I expected it to be. I've never lost anyone before, or a pet for that matter. The house feels so damn empty.

My parents are taking it really hard, I don't know how anyone could have another pet after putting an animal down🙁

that's tough...but at least you could prepare. The dog we had at my house was hit by a car.

Sorry for your loss.

You shouldn't drive your car through your house like that, it's dangerous. 🙂

I didn't. I was in Arizona. But whoever did...they are a dead man!

Sorry to hear it man. I went through the same thing about 7 years ago (I can't belive it's been that long already). My pooch was suffering from artheritis and cataracks(sp). It was the humane thing to do, the poor thing could barely walk anymore. It's tough, I miss him to this day. Cherish the pics and memories, I do.

Sorry to hear that. I had to put mine down about 3 yrs ago and we had him for 15 years. It is hard but keep your chin up. The dog doesnt have to suffer now.

You'd be suprised. Having another fills a void, and teaches you to love them all over again. Note it does not replace. There is and always will be a special place for that pet.

My condolences. 🙁

My mom was really shook up because she said my dog fought so hard to get away from them. It makes you wonder if they know that its coming. That is even more freightning.

I am glad she is no longer suffering - and thank you everyone for your condolences.

I went through the same thing this year. Our dog Curly got really really sick, we didn't have insurance to pay for meds and back then we were really strapped for cash. So the only other humane option was to put her down. I wish I could have put up a site asking for donations to pay for meds and the hospital bill. Other people have done it and they've had major success.

I feel for ya....I may have had it worse..My dog died when I was home alone in the house...just collapsed while trying to go up the stairs..that was like 3 years ago. I still miss my dog. 🙁

I've very sorry. I've lost a dog before and it's not easy in anyway. I have five great dogs right now and it pains me that I have witness all of their demises. I'm sorry man.

Very sorry to hear that you lost your friend. There really isn't anything to say that will make it easier. I had a dog for 13 years growing up, and I was devastated when she was finally put to sleep (she had cancer). It still hurts thinking about it, but I always remember the great times we spent together as well as the cute things she used to do.

Time will lessen the pain but never remove it. Here's to hoping that it's sooner rather than later.

about a year ago we put our dog down, 15 or so years. to an 18 yr old, he's been around nearly my entire life.

I cried for a long time, the only solace I can offer, is to under no circumstances try to imagine what the last few moments were for your dog. I couldn't bring myself to go to the vet, I know I would've broken down, I did anyway. I wish I would've gone now though, but it'a decision i made :0. Anyway, just try and remember the good times : (. It'll never stop hurting, it'll just get easier to forget.

I don't know WHAT i'll do when my buddy has to go down.

I feel the same way. She's 12 and has intermittent back problems. One day the cortizone might not work and we'll have to put her down 🙁 it scares me, because I don't know what will be the last time I see her, being that I am away from home and in college.

I think it would be a lot easier that way.... because as it is, you don't run into your dog everyday. I grew apart from my dog... but when I moved back home, it was like I never left.

I think it will be difficult for me a for a long time coming home and not seeing her waiting at the door for me. No matter how bad her hips were, she insisted on running to greet everyone AT the door. I couldn't imagine ever having a better dog, she was one in a million.
