We need some type of excessive compensation tax.

Why does someone need to make more than 10 million a year? Clearly no one needs that much money a year, and no one really deserves that much money a year. Too many times the working class and poor are trampled over by the rich to make this kind of money. We need a tax on this kind of excessive pay.

I propose a 200% tax against any company for each dollar over 10 million it pays to any single employee. For self-employed people I propose a 50% self employment tax for each dollar over 10 million. We need to reign in on these excessive incomes from the rich who do nothing but steal from the working class and poor.

Also obviously we need to close the loophole with the dividend and capital gains tax that lets the rich trample all over the working class while paying next to no taxes.

As long as we have people on the streets begging for food and money; because they can't find a job, no one should be allowed to make so much money. We need class equality in this country, and a massive tax on the rich/greedy is how we can do it. Remember share the wealth and make the world a better place.

Communism is a failure, mmmkay? And who are YOU to tell somebody how much they can and cannot make? What's the maximum wage comrade? And there is no loophole with LTCG, that's what the rate is.

We must create a paramilitary force to make people pay up and to make sure these people do not try to flee the country.

Not sure if serious.

OP, stop being a jealous deadbeat and try and improve your situation so you can be one of those who make great money instead of whining about those who do.

The "bottom" 47% pays ZERO income tax or gets a tax credit (IE paid) from the federal government.

The tax base needs to be expanded so everyone has skin in the game.

Meanwhile, the top 10% already shoulders 68% of income taxes.

People who produce goods and services, thus adding to the totality of wealth in society and therefore earn their money are fine with me. Parasites who make money by manipulating the system (i.e. Goldman Sachs and high frequency trading, investment bankers who make $5B/yr, etc.) to siphon wealth away from others without themselves contributing to society, are not.

Capitalism rewards production and prevents loafing.

You're a loafer, aren't you?

Or is it possible As wealth distribution has skewed to greater concentration in fewer hands and wages stagnate, the middle class gets smaller and more people fall out of the tax tables?

Do it Canada style. The year that I made 36k, I paid about 5k in taxes even though that's below the average for the country. Poor people don't get away with shit here.

By 1918, the top rate of the income tax was increased to 77% (on income over $1,000,000) to finance World War I. The top marginal tax rate was reduced to 58% in 1922, to 25% in 1925, and finally to 24% in 1929. In 1932 the top marginal tax rate was increased to 63% during the Great Depression and steadily increased.

Total government tax revenues as a percentage of GDP for the U.S. in comparison to the OECD and the EU 15.During World War II, Congress introduced payroll withholding and quarterly tax payments, Franklin D. Roosevelt tried to impose a 100% tax on all incomes over $25,000[citation needed] to help with the war effort. For tax years 1944 through 1951, the highest marginal tax rate for individuals was 91%, increasing to 92% for 1952 and 1953, and reverting to 91% for tax years 1954 through 1963.[3]

For the 1964 tax year, the top marginal tax rate for individuals was lowered to 77%, and then to 70% for tax years 1965 through 1981. The top marginal tax rate was lowered to 50% for tax years 1982 through 1986.[4]

For tax year 1987, the highest marginal tax rate was 38.5% for individuals.[5] It was lowered to 33% for tax years 1988 through 1990.[6]

For the 1991 and 1992 tax years, the top marginal rate was lowered to 31% in a budget deal President George H. W. Bush made with the Congress.[7]

In 1993 the Clinton administration proposed and the Congress accepted (with no Republican support) an increase in the top marginal rate to 39.6% for the 1993 tax year, where it remained through tax year 2000.[8]

In 2001, President George W. Bush proposed and the Congress accepted an eventual lowering of the top marginal rate to 35%. However, this was done in stages: with a highest marginal rate of 39.1% for 2001, then 38.6% for 2002 and finally 35% for years 2003 through 2010.[9] This measure has a sunset provision and is scheduled to expire for the 2011 tax year, when rates will return to those adopted during the Clinton years unless Congress changes the law.[10]

CEOs in the US make about 350 times more than your average employee.

The rich proposed they should NOT get heavily taxed, because they will create new jobs with the money Uncle Sam leaves alone.

That was 30 years ago. And, salaries of the rich have gone way up, while the middle class has remained the same. They have no intention of redistributing the wealth.

For anyone who tries to distribute the wealth; they are a muslim communist terrorist out to rape your white virgin daughters.

It's all a show. The rich have no intention of sharing any of their wealth. Not even under the intentions of growing their business. They would rather ship the work overseas for a fraction of the cost.

And, they then have the nerve of calling American Labor too expensive. Right, because $8 a day to some 12 year old is better for appropriate.

OP - Look into alternative minimum tax. It was spouted off for the exact same reasons your communist mind thought of and now it hits the middle class in more taxes.

BRILLIANT!

I propose a 100% income and personal wealth tax on anybody that proposes a new tax or tax hike.
