most good non-car-racing (or the like) games are only good when using the mouse and keyboard (i.e. CS, MOH, etc.)...where's all the good joystick based like metal gear solid, etc.?...i loved that game because it reminded me of the console days..

all these keyboard/mouse games seem too assume that people who play PC games play them by themselves or something....you can't share the keyboard to play most games, and the games that u can question your sexual orientation if you're intimately sharing the keyboard with a friend of the same sex.

i notice that the only decent joystick based games are ones ported from consoles - surprising??

so, can anyone generate a list of decent joystick based games or WHAT?...i'm sick of using my mouse and keyboard...

(plus i like the way my rumblepad vibrates)

I still use a joystick regularly. Right now I am playing Xwing Alliance(damn there are a lot of missions!) with a joystick(is there any other way :) )

Xwing alliance is "star wars-ish"- it is one of the better star wars games out there, though. I also play the mechwarrior games with a joystick. After reading you post again-are you talking about joysticks or gamepads?

Get IL-2 Sturmovik, the be all and end all.
Also, you just gotta get creative, and use the joystick for "in-between" games. I'm currently playing GP500(motorcycle racing) with a joystick, and while it's a bit tougher to drive compared to when I used my Gravis Xterminator, it's ALOT more fun! :)

MechWarrior4 is decent. (A stick is nearly a must for it)

You might want to try a gamepad. They're a little more flexible and you can make
an awful lot happen with one of them.

Another vote for X-wing Alliance. It's old but still good. I actually bought a joystick long ago to play this game. Space sims need a joystick.

How about some of the new console ports? Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Spider Man:The Movie, Virtua Tennis 2k2.......I actually was considering getting a joypad for my PC even though I have a PS2 already.

I use one of my joysticks (Wingman Force 3D for Force feedback) (Gravis Blackhawk for non-force feedback games)
with my right hand for forward/backward, strafe left/right, lots of buttons for other commands. I use my mouse
lefthanded with mouselook on fulltime for First Person Shooters. I have played or still play the games below with
this configuration. It is really comfortable to use this setup, I highly recommend trying it out for yourself.

UT
Half-Life
Counter-Strike
SOF
Quake
Quake2
No One Lives Forever
Aliens vs. Predator
Rogue Spear

Commandos (extra buttons come in handy)
