we need a teamspeak host as well :)
I've never extensively used the in-game voice communication tool, but would teamspeak be superior enought to warrant the extra setup and hassle? We'd have to seperate into teams and be a lot more organized than we were Sunday :).

And as for pinging the test server, I'm getting around the same 80ms as I was with the old IP.

From what I've seen, if you can get a group of guys together who work as a team, they basically steamroll over the opposition.

Tips I've learned so far:

1) ALWAYS aim for the head. The headbox so large that headshots account for 1/2 the kills in any given game.

2) The only time you should stop moving is when you shoot. You get much greater accuracy by stopping/crouching. Try it out sometime with long distance shots. Running = wide pattern Walking = smaller pattern Stopping/crouching = tight pattern

3) If you've never played before, ignore the trolls who keeping telling you "Hit F10 to get more money" or something like it. F10 simply exits you from the game.

4) If you can, follow somebody and stay in groups. You're MUCH more likely to live if you have buddies providing additional firepower.

5) If you're running/walking and somebody starts shooting you and you aren't near cover, alternate crouching with standing. It keeps your head bobbing up and down and makes it harder for them to get a headshot.

6) If you see a grenade being thrown (enemy or friend), look away for a second. It could be a flashbang grenade. Flashbang grenades are even worse than High Explosive in my mind. You're completely blinded for a good 5 seconds which is more than long enough for an enemy to come up and kill you (and three of your teammates)

7) Always keep your crosshair at head level and pointed at a possible enemy hiding point. You never know when someone may pop up in front of you.

8) If it's late in a game and there's only a few allies/enemies left, crouch down and slowly creep where you need to go. You can hear footsteps a lot better when there's only a few people left and it can give you advance warning that somebody is coming up on you. If there's no blue dot near you on the radar, it's an enemy.

9) Watch your radar. When a teammate spots an enemy, you will hear "Enemy spotted" and the person who spotted the enemy will flash orange for a few seconds. You'll know where at least one enemy is.

10) Fire in bursts. Simply holding the trigger down results in a wide pattern. Letting loose with 3-5 round bursts results in much better accuracy.

Anybody else have some tips/tricks?

IMO, i think you are guys are trying to make the game a bit too realistic. i don't think tripping should be included and the headshots are fine the way they are. i mean, if u got a USP and u shoot 12 bullets, one of them is going to hit and possibly it'll hit the head. as for m4 silencer, i personally like it better for accuracy and silence. i don't know about you guys, but it definitely feels more accurate. someone in a game said it's more accurate because the silencer weighs down the front of the barrel.

and can't wait for the server mccrusty! i'm gonna start a new thread and have people post their steam IDs so we can add each other and get a game going this weekend.

And imagine you trying to snipe someone and he trips and you miss. lol. I actually like how in farcry you can lie down in the prone and fire like that.

RE: the M4 (at least in CS1.6), every experiment and study i've ready says that it's superior without silencer (except when you need to be silent). But like someone else said, it just FEELS so much more accurate with it on. And at close-medium range, i seem to get a LOT more headshots with it.

One thing that pisses me off in CS1.6 is a) waaaayy too many headshots, especially ridiculous ones like midair USP headshots, and b) stuff that shouldn't ever happen, like a 100yd headshot with an M3.

The hopping doesn't happen very often in CS because you lose aim and you slow down once you land. The reason jumping is so effective in Q3A and others is because there's absolutely no penalty for doing it. A lot of AWPers will strafe-jump out from behind cover and fire as soon as they land. It's accurate and you have less of a chance of getting your ass shot off while you're getting into position.

most aggrivating headshots for me are on dust. i was defending A as a CT shooting down the tunnel and got hit in the head with the Terrorists free pistol

and when people get headshots across the room with a shotgun. i mean WTF.
