A Bill of No Rights

We, the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help
everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more
riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the
blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our
great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and
establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny,
guilt-ridden, delusional and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these
truths to be self-evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the
Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require a "Bill of No
Rights."

ARTICLE I:

You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any other form of
wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is
guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II:

You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on
freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may
leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but
the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be ... and like the
rest of us you need to simply deal with it.

ARTICLE III:

You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver
in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer
to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV:

You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most
charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we
are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of
professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of
another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V:

You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but
from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public
health care.

ARTICLE VI:

You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap,
rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest
of us want to see you fry in the electric chair. (Yeah!)

ARTICLE VII:

You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat
or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised
if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still
won't have the right to a big screen color TV, pool tables, weight rooms or
a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII:

You don't have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job,
and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take
advantage of the opportunities of part time jobs, education and vocational
training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX:

You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you
have the right to PURSUE happiness -- which by the way, is a lot easier if
you are unencumbered by an overabundance of idiotic laws created by those
of you who were confused by the "Bill of Rights."

ARTICLE X:

This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from. We
welcome you here. English is our language and like the one you left
behind, we also have a culture. Learn it or go back to the country and the
living conditions you were fleeing.

There have always been people who want to limit rights...they're called nazis. I particularly enjoy the xenophobia in X.

Hard to believe this is the product of a free socitey.

Why?

You wouldn't see something like that in communist Russia, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. I'm not saying I agree with every tenet, I just don't see any logic to your statement.

You miss my point. Why am I not surprised?

Point is in a free society people must guard their freedom from precisely the insane, xenophobic, totalitarian thinking exhibited above. It is hard to believe this moron is the product of a free society. His thinking would indeed be expected in a totalitarian state.

Why do you consider that post insane or totalitarian? I see why it might be considered xenophobic though I think that would be taking the "english only" viewpoint a litte far to say that.

The post is about freedom, freedom to succeed or fail, freedom to live your life without a totalitarian government telling you how to do it. It's also about something which many people seem to strongly dislike now, taking personal responsibility for yourself and accepting the outcome of the decisions that you make.

edit, let's take it article by article and see what your objections are to this.

ARTICLE I:

You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any other form of
wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is

Seems alright to me, what's your problem with it? Do you want someone to guarantee you a big screen TV or a new car?

Nothing totalitarian about that at all. Perhaps the phrase couch potato offended you.

I like my couch and I like potatoes. Why would I be offended by them?

I have a big screen TV and a new car. I don't need a guarantee. My problem with it is this knucklehead has some misguided notion that people want a guarantee.

He is generalizing. And generalizations are the basis for stereotypes. Do you have a problem with stereotypes?

I have no problem with any other language. The problem is when we are required to teach school in other languages.

Geez... I'll show you how dumb I am... I thought: The predicate of "Article I:" seems to be that I or we don't have the right... The second sentence suggests no one is guaranteed that they can get procure anything (inferred) legaly, but, you can try.
I do have the right to acquire whatever I wish that is legal to acquire and it is already a legaly protected right for me to do so. I wonder what the real meaning of the Article is. I'll read beyond Article I and see if I can deduce it.

I'm back... I see... Big dude is ranting about the folks who refuse to work or provide for themselves the essentials of life and demand the same as those who work to support their needs and wants... I further assume that Bigdude does not include the folks who are in Social Programs because of legitimate need like the disabled, elderly, foster kids and those enroute to the mainstream and similar disadvantaged folks... heck some of the Marines at Pendleton (base) are on state provided food stamps so he surely does not include them...

Good for you. The point is that no one needs a guarantee. If you don't believe that some people in the US believe that the government owes them money for doing nothing than you need to get out more.

So what offends you about article two. Remember that you have to prove that the author was "insane" and that this exhibits "totalitarian" thinking. You haven't done that so far.

Here in Georgia, if you must take the Mandotory Spanish classes and pass, if you fail the class, you do not graduate.

They scared us with that too up in Wisconsin(where I were edjumicated), Good thing ol Tommy Thompson was looking out for us ;):)

Anyway - in school they kept preaching that we had to have 2 years of foreign language to be able to get into state schools or any other "good" school. Well, I guess I proved them wrong:p I was accepted to Marquette(EE) and UW Oshkosh(party:p) :)
Oh and to boot we only had one foreign language available to take at our school- French :p It has since been dropped and replaced with Spanish.

Well.... I think if there are many occasions that I or anyone can be offended.. If you burn my US flag... I'll be offended but, not deny the right. If Cuba installed ICBM's I'd be offended. If someone assulted me maybe... if they battered me I'd be real offended. Everyone has the right to do what is not criminal or a tort.. some even wish not to offend verbally when the offense does not reach the level of a tort. ETC.

You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver
in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer
to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

Assumption of Risk, Proximate Cause.. etc.. are defenses... But, In Strict Liability... say A water heater explodes should the mfg not be found totaly negligent if the cause was defect in the water heater that caused the explosion?

I think he is referring to teaching classes in a foriegn language, not taking foreign language.
SPanish in spanish class is ok, spanish in math class is not a good idea.

Assuming it was only a manufacturor defect that caused the explosion- Yes. But one has to determine if it was installed and used properly too;) Just because something breaks because of a defect doesn't/shouldn't mean total negligence if that device was being used improperly. Using a screwdriver to remove a speck in ones eye is not a correct or intended use of a screwdriver- just as using your water heater as a constant teapot is not it's intended use.

Silly example? Probably - but so is suing someone for your mistake.

Your CADification to my examples is always welcome... How about a blow torch used for melting ear wax for subsequent removal with an Ice Pick?;)

Give the potatoes (JD Quale) six months to get it going and then if they still prefer the couch they can eat the couch but, I'd not want to feed them... they can pick wild berries for all I care.
