Good summary of actual reality. Unfortunately MSM gets more ratings by focusing on the battle, rather than the principles involved and the GOP/Tea Party did a tremendous job (again) by defining the dominant issue and keeping that at the forefront.

I'm disappointed in Obama by pulling the usual politician move-trying to get on the currently popular side of an issue rather than doing what is right. But he did see the handwriting on the wall-the GOP machine was going to push this to the wall and quite possibly beyond-if it failed they could blame out of control teabaggers.

This damaged the economy greatly by reducing consumer and business confidence, in addition to effectively barring any real efforts to stimulate job growth.

We made our bed, now we have to live with it. History will judge this bill to be a dumb move, as was the continuation of the Bush tax reductions.
 
History will judge this move as the beginning of bringing fiscal responsibility to Government.

We all know it, you and I, but the Tea Party has now taken it nationwide.

It's a gorgeous slam on Obama, and Government.

Department of Education 46 Billion

Cut the entire Cabinet which includes the Department of Defense and we are still running 500+ Billion Dollar Deficit

Are you smoking weed? His initial budget plan called for spending cuts and tax increases. The rethuglicans would not let anything pass that contained tax loophole fixes or revenue increase.

I predict by February 2012 unemployment will spike to a full two digit 14% nationwide. Completely the result of republican policy successes by getting their way out of the debt deal. No revenues and massive spending cuts during a recession, we will witness unemployment flourishing during 2012. Companies are getting ready to layoff at rates never before seen in this country, starting in early 2012. That includes layoff rates immediately following the year 1929. Everyone will be affected, either directly or indirectly. More so directly. If that is the "normal" you desire, you shall have it. Remember to thank republican trickledown economics for the country record breaking unemployment coming soon to a company near you.

Where I live, you can't hire illegals to work for that sort of money. Even they go for 10-12/hr.

The TP jihadis are threatening to destroy the whole national economy from inside the Congress. And they are getting paid by the country to do it. Amazing. Surely bin Laden is smiling from below as we self-immolate.

The only difference I can see is that others do it by intention, TP does it out of fear, ignorance of economics, rabid hatred of Obama, and a special brand of crazy sauce that lets them think they are "helping"

There no "massive spending cuts". I'm highly doubtful there are any spending cuts at all, at least none that aren't already planned like troop draw-downs in Iraq.

Remember the 'baseline budgeting' system Congress uses?
