My brother, as a teenager, swore he'd never date anyone but the perfect woman. She had to be beautiful, thin, just perfect. When he actually started dating, only one of them came close to what he said, and she was a woman who was about 34 years old with a kid (he was all of maybe 19), but she was absolutely psycho. The woman he fell madly in love with and married, he loved for her personality, not her looks. She has weight problems, but he loves her dearly.
I'm not saying that happens all the time, but it's common for teens to be more shallow where it comes to women, thinking more with their penises and less with their minds. As people get older, most will factor intelligence, personality, and compatibility into the equation more and will think their mate is absolutely beautiful, despite a less than perfect appearance. Love has a way of making you see someone as perfect even if others see flaws.
