We got a puppy!!

who's cleaning up the poo?

Ok I commented before I even looked at the pics. Hehe yes, yes that is too cute, srsly.

My family had a yorkie when I was a kid, great dog. Fairly smart breed, if you trick them once, they'll never fall for the same thing again. Brave for a dog it's size, but you'll never see anything shake quite like a yorkie during a thunderstorm. Lots of energy, though. Ours refused to eat if you didn't play with her first. That usually meant fetch for about an hour.

I remember ours corralling our kitten, sometimes carrying him home by the scruff of his neck, if he got too far in the yard. Of course, that cat grew to 15 lbs rather quickly, the dog never got much past 10. She still ran the house though. I had her trained to come chase the cat away on command, even if it was the middle of the night and she was sound asleep. It was pretty hilarious. She made it to 13 or 14, can't remember, but passed about 4 years ago. My fiancee and I are thinking about getting one or two of them now.

Damn, I hate yorkies.

I'm glad you are happy, though, and I hope your girlfriend enjoys the dog.

If my cat can kick its ass and eat it, its not a real dog.

But it is damned cute!

Not my type of breed, I like big dogs, but I'll admit that one is really cute.

I wouldn't want that dog to own, but it certainly is a cute looking dog.

Lol at the cat kicking its ass and eating it, it really looks like it'd be helpless against a mean cat.

Our yorkie/chihuahua keeps out two cats on the run even though they're twice his size and 2 to 3 times his weight. He has them buffaloed...Our Himalayan/Siamese cross is a scrapper. Fights with the other neighborhood cats on a regular basis...and this little ball of fur chases him relentlessly.
Sure, the cat could kick his ass in a heartbeat if he ever stopped and stood his ground, but he doesn't.

Funny thing is that they'll both lay in my recliner, or both in my lap at the same time with no problems, but as soon as the cat goes outside...he's fair game for the dog and the can runs like there's a rottweiler on his ass...

great dogs. mine had blue hair when it got a few years old. read up on yorkie history. You'll be surprised.

They'll own cats that are larger than them. We had 3 cats, all bigger than our yorkie, and the dog was still the boss. The breed exists as a varmint dog, so relatively docile cats are no problem. Our cat relied on the element of surprise to defeat the dog, so the dog learned to avoid every corner that the cat knew to hide in. Very smart.

Oh, and to whoever said theirs had blue hair, they should all turn silver/blue on their backs once they reach adulthood. They're only black as puppies.

Honestly, I grew up with a lot of pets over the years. We had a german shepherd, irish setter, huskies, a yorkie, various alley cats, a parrot, etc. (Not all at the same time). The yorkie wasn't as smart as the shepherd, but I'll put her in a tie for 2nd with the parrot. Actually, the yorkie and the parrot hated each other, but teamed up against the cats sometimes. Was really funny to see the infantry go in with air support.

Really? The breeder told me they all start black and turn bluish. Since then, I just assumed any black ones I saw were still puppies. Interesting, I guess I learned some more trivia today, thanks 🙂

So cute! My gf and I are looking at a West Highland White Terrier(Westie) Still doing a lot of reading on them

yup. Also, there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. Those sold as such are just bred from smaller members of the breed, but in fact, you may very well end up with a normal size dog anyways. The practice also increases the odds of genetic deformations and dogs with poor health. In fact, we own the son of the other older dog we own. The father was only 5 pounds and the molther was 8 pounds, and her son is 20 pounds.

My brothers yorkie is probably 14 or 15 and is jet black and tan.
