My wife and I went hiking at a large park. We noticed this on one of the wooded trails.
Very blair witchy....

Its head is still there but the neck is torn apart. I am guessing a raptor dropped it. There were alot of crows they might of attacked the hawk or something.

So ATOT tell me what you think, also here are some pics for you to guess the park.

boardwalk
marsh

I will go back in the spring when it looks better.

We found the skeleton of a squirrel when we gutted our kitchen three years ago. it must have made a "home" above the ceiling where there was insulation between the attic floor and kitchen ceiling. When we brought the sheetrock down, there it was. nasty!

I was wondering about that... For a "park", that place looks pretty desolate.

is it just hanging there or was it skewered there?

if the latter, it could have been put there by a Northern Shrike.

Around here, shrikes are large birds, a little bigger than robins and such.

also I have seen them decapitate rabbits and other fair sized mammals. One golf course found several beheaded ground hogs on their fairways.
