Steve Bannon goes into why China is going to lose. Very interesting. BTW, I think he's correct. China was suprised that Donald was POTUS, and they were blindsided by Trump. Bannon talks about Reagan and how he defeated the Russians in 7 years. Remember, in the 1970's Russia was a rising superpower. Reagan put an end to that, and now Trump is positioning himself to do the same to China.

I disagree, China is better positioned to absorb economic damage than the US. Remember Tienanmen Square? The people of China will take whatever economic abuse the government says that they need to take, or else. Not so here. We have lots of voters that will have no problem understanding the pain their wallets are feeling in this war. Once that 'message' hits home with the voters and they also understand who the party is that inflicted this pain on them, most of them will vote to change things.

China's regime isn't in any trouble...lol, not one bit. Bannon has been huffing Chinese spray paint.

China isn't stupid enough to start wars for propaganda like the Russkies did. Instead they build maglev trains to show the beauty of China to sell their citizens on unity and power.

Also China tends to think about things not in the next year but the next 100 years. Sure it's possible they could have stupid leaders, but with the recent leadership, they've been very competent. After all it's not just America which buys Chinese goods.. it's India and they have 5 times our population.

I feel dirty for saying this, but I agree with him, but just on the nature of China and the threat it poses. I couldn't disagree more regarding Trump, who is a bluffer and not a good one. Possibly worst negotiators in the world, has horrible instincts if it doesn't involve gauging racist resentment. Lie, cheat and steal covers the rest. I feel that's just Bannon living up to the requisite amount of ass kissing one has to perform to get noticed, to gravitate into Trump's orbit where influence can be exerted. He still wants to be a king maker, a player in right wing politics. I can't stand the guy, but on China he's not exactly wrong. As a nation we have been largely reluctant to acknowledge what China does as long as our consumers and companies get cheap goods and labor.

It would be nice to see Bannon express some kind of regret over Trump doing what he can to Make China Great Again wrt TPP, but then that would call for more candor than he's capable of.

Yup, even the farmers are figuring it out. The reality is settling in for them that their markets are not just going to come right back after the tariffs are lifted. Nor are they happy about their bailout because they now realize that their welfare money is coming from the tariffs that the taxpayers, not China, are paying. Nor are they happy getting welfare while their crops rot instead of selling them and making a living like they used to.

When a Republican gives an opinion about something, reality is exactly the opposite of whatever they just said.

We don't depend on trade with China, dipshit. We can buy shit from plenty of low-labor costing nations. Newsflash: They aren't the only one - and because their economy has increased over the years, they are no longer the country that is looked to when companies want to outsource.

First, I don't have to back a damned thing up because some dumbfuck on the internet demands it. Second, I don't need to Google shit because I have been politically aware since Nixon went to China. I also protested the bastard at the opening of the World's Exposition in Spokane, 1974.

I think America is greatly underestimating the value and threat this trade war placed on other sectors of the economy, where American companies have hegemony.

Eg Amazon (eg AWS) Google, Microsoft, Facebook for example. These companies are very dominant in the next gen data economy, far beyond the US borders. People are looking at this with a new perspective and concern.

While we are watching, so it's Europe and all these other countries that have Incorporated China into their supply chains. We are also at war with them as well. I can tell you for a fact these executives and supply chain mangers are pissed at the US are looking for ways to hedge, as well as rethinking their relationship with the US.

We are a huge econ, so they won't go away, but same for China. In the meantime were building lots of ill will, and reactions. There will be very wide and long lasting consequences to our actions.

Better be worth it....
