They are celebrating hope and the prospect of positive change. Not his accomplishments.

Also, he is to be the first black President. I'd say that's one hell of an accomplishment in it's own right. If you can't understand the enormity of that then you have been living under a rock, or perhaps slept through U.S. History class.

Uh, it's not that we're worshipping one person..

It's that he is the one person that got chosen to lead the country for the next 4 years. It has nothing to do with worship, and everything to do with hoping that he does a good job.

It also helps that I like the guy. Love him or hate him, you should still want him to do a good job, even if you're skeptical that he will.
