The people who say New Jersey are speaking out of ignorance. NJ is one of the wealthiest states, and has the highest ratio of money given to the government vs. money taken from the government.

The bad part of NJ is the part near NYC. That's a dump, with all the smelly refineries that everyone loves to hate. It's understandable that people who live in NY have a bad opinion of NJ, since the surrounding area is a dump. But that dump is really NY's garbage.

So what's that smell when I cross the Delaware?

Where? The Delaware stretches across the entire state.

NJ is the 2nd wealthiest state per capita in the United States (behind only Connecticut) as per the United States Census Bureau.

Its median household income is the highest in the nation with $55,146

New Jersey has the highest ratio of taxes given to the government vs. money taken from the government.

New Jersey is said to have the largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the world: nearly one hundred companies on the Fortune 500 list have headquarters or conduct business from New Jersey.

We have Princeton University, tied with Harvard as the best university in the country.

Einstein lived in Princeton.

nope it's still NJ. 91TTZ's groveling defense of the state is proof.

I haven't heard such a clever comeback since Pee Wee Herman was on TV!

Please don't say, "I know you are but what am I?", because I think I'll flip out.

Sorry, I already stated the Texas/Mexico border as the a**
But damn, both are up there. I'll side with you on that one though **LMAO**

another nomination for NJ.

Someone can sit and defend NJ based on household income, but that person doesn't realize:

Newark and Camden are two of the poorest cities in America, but New Jersey as a whole has the highest median household income among the states. This is largely because so much of New Jersey consists of suburbs, most of them affluent, of New York City and Philadelphia. The proximity to NY and land value/space are the biggest contributing factor to the fact that you have a wealthy place. Most of those people spend the majority of their time out of the state!

According to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) data, NJ faces the nation's 2nd greatest cancer risk from diesel soot. The Garden state is also considered the 4th worst in the nation for other non-cancer impacts.

It turns out that over a period of years, Ford Motor Company dumped millions of gallons of paint sludge into a now-residential area of northern New Jersey. According to the series, before closing in 1980, the plant spat out six million vehicles and an ocean of contaminants ? including enough paint sludge to fill two of the three tubes of the Lincoln Tunnel. Millions of gallons of paint sludge were dumped in the remote section of Ringwood, which is now a residential area. Children played in it. Streams washed over it. And early this year, New Jersey officials announced some cancer rates in the area are unusually high.

The asthma rate in NJ's urban school age children is estimated to be as high as 25% (double the state & national average).

NY uses you as a dump. Enough said.

We could go on and on, but the nice parts of town are overshadowed to the fact that you're a huge dump otherwise.

So my vote goes for NJ.

comeback? but i didn't even know we were fighting.

why are you getting all defensive about your state being the armpit of america anyways? it's pretty much nationally recognized.

my advice: get over it; maybe act more like your fellow new jersians:

Your logic is inconsistent. You don't want to recognize NJ's wealth because it's largely due to the NYC/Philly influx, but at the same time you do want to recognize the pollution problem of North Jersey, which is also due to the influx from NY.

You can't have it both ways.

And your profile says you live in Tennessee. Your state ranks #42 out of 50 as far as median household income goes. Where do you think you'll find better people, #1 out of 50, or #42 out of 50? And you're the scumbag that's nominating other people's states for being the armpit of the country.

PS- Shouldn't you be rotating the tires on your house?

Let's see...we're talking about cities/states and you're turning to childish insults like this is the playground and I just insulted your mother.

Grow up child.
