WD4000KS not recognized in bios

I replaced an 80gig Seagate SATA HDD with a Western Digital Cavair 16mb cache 400gig SATA HDD. For some reason my bios doesn't recognize the HDD? The HDD does spin-up and it appears to be running normally. I checked and rechecked the cables and I just can't figure it out. Can anyone help me resolve this issue or know of a fix?

Was the 80GB Seagate your boot/system drive?
If not, can you recognize the WD in Windows?

The 80gig Seagate HDD was a system drive. The bios nor windows recognizes the new WD4000KD HDD.

Try jumpering the drive for sata 1.5G and see what happens.

I tried that even though my mobo supports 150/300 SATA.

Try:

-to replace the data cord
-to put it in a different computer

If neither work, RMA it and be glad you didn't have anything on it

Have you tried disconnecting all of your other HDD's?

John has an interesting point. It could be some kind of very odd power issue, that maybe those extra drives caused problems. See if the BIOS will recognize it w/o other drives in.

I tried that.

I tried a different cable.

I will try it in another computer and see what happens and I'm glad I dont have anything on it!!!!
