WD vs Hitachi

Im looking to get a SATA hard drive. I have 2 raptors now, but need more GBs. Both the Hitachi and WD are $120 AR so price isnt a concern between the 2. The WD only comes with a 1 year warranty(when did they change that?) Up until this point I have only used WD hard drives and they have been flawless. The Hitachi comes with a 3 yr warranty though, but I know nothing about their drives. Which one would you buy?

ED: both are 250gbs

I have used a IBM and a Hitachi (22GB, 160GB), never had a single problem. It is no longer the 'DeathStar' (well, only one model was anyway).

Wish I bought a pair of Hitachis instead of the WDJBs. They are "loud", and one of them is failing, which knocked out my RAID 0 a few days ago. Still got a 30GB IBM GXP75 and a 120GB IBM GXP120.

I'd get Hitachi. Those posers at WD need to drop the ball-bearing motors already. Ever heard a rogue WD ball-bearing motor in "banshee" mode? 😛

Hands down the Hitachi, it is sweet. I bought two of the 250gb drives and they are great.

I got good scores on HDtach and sandra, check out my thread in gEneral hardware
