Hi all,

I have a 200 gig WD Sata HD at home. I can't find the drivers anywhere. Does anyone know of a place where I can just DL them?

Thanks. :)

You don't need drivers for your hard drive just your SATA controller. Your motherboard company should have provided a CD with these drivers. You can also look at Intel, Via or whoever makes the controller on your MB for the latest and greatest drivers.

Well, in this case, you need a floppy to install 'em.

At least that's how it worked before. :)

I install WD SATA HD's in most of the sytems I build and have never needed drivers. You onboard SATA controller should pick it right up. If you have a PCI based SATA controller then it should have came with a floppy. If it didn't then you need to go to the Controller manufacturer.

Are you trying to install windows on your computer with your SATA HD plugged into your SATA controller? If so then what you need is ANOTHER COMPUTER :)

Grab your CD and look for the driver, look for the sysinfo/*.sys drivers or whatever they are, put them on a floppy disk and boot your system up with the Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and hit F3 or whatever key it is to tell Windows that you have the drivers needed to specify the driver for your SATA controller.

Originally when I had gotten the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe approx. 5 months ago, I had this fiasco with the SATA controller. I needed to grab the drive off of the mobo cd and I didnt have another computer to do so.

The controller wouldn't boot for crap when I first built my machine. Basically, Windows kept telling me that it couldn't see a mass storage unit, and the only way to get the driver on was with a floppy when I finally resolved the issue.

Now I'm upgrading to a MSI K8T800 Neo-FISR and an AMD 64 3200+. I fear a repeat fiasco and that's why I was hoping to have the floppy ready before I formatted. I can't look at the mobo cd right now, but I'm sure it's there and I won't have this issue again.
