How long does it normally take for Western Digital to process a RMA ? General RMA not the Advanced RMA. I could of done Advanced RMA but it was not required but maybe I should have. Oh well. Not an emergency. Still curious.
I've always done advanced RMA with them and that was extremely fast. Sorry I can't comment on the regular RMA process.
By the way I hear advanced RMA changed a little. They still send you a drive first but you have to send the old drive back even before you receive the new one. Well the recertified drive.
That seems strange. The way it worked the last time I advance RMA'd a WD drive (like 7 or 8 years ago), I had to provide a credit card number and if the failed drive didn't arrive (or maybe it was ship) within 30 days they would charge the provided credit card.
The drive they shipped arrived in 2-3 days. I imagine a regular RMA process would take as long as the speed of the shipping you used + 1-2 days to receive your drive then send out the replacement + 2-3 days shipping from WD to you.
