Hey everyone, I just pieced my new PC together for the first time, booted up, and I have everything properly plugged in with power, and the SATA cables and such, but when I go to install Windows, it says there arent any hard disks installed...I know there could be a huge amount of possible problems, but this is my first time building a computer. Im running an Abit AV8, with a WD Raptor 74GB 10Krpm, and a AMD Athlon 64 3500+

First you have to ensure that the SATA drive is set up properly in the BIOS, in your case, it should be set up as a single SATA drive, not a RAID array.

Then, when you begin installing Windows/XP you will see a prompt to hit F6 if you have any special drivers to load. You must press F6 at this time, and have a floppy disk with the appropriate driver ready when Windows prompts you to load it later in the install process.

Ok...one problem, I go to the setup menu and it says something about specifying a mass storage device its specific drivers, etc, etc. then beneathe it, it says <none>, does that mean I still need to select drivers from the Abit floppy?
