WD Raptor Question..

I think the old version is still very fast, its the preproduction preview models that were extremely slow and underperforming. Besides isn't the "old" version still a lot faster than a single 7200 rpm drive?

It doesn't mean anything, every brand and model has failures within the first month. In fact the failure rate graph for most hardware and consumer electronics has a big spike for the initial month, then it drops down for a long while until rising again.

That's what warranties are for.

But yes it's still annoying when it happens to you 🙂

Storage Review's reliability survey has 160 entries for the Raptor, and 74% of the drives in their database are more reliable. The Raptor does appear to be having some reliability issues that go beyond the normal first month problems.
