Just bought a 400 GB WD My passport portable drive but it is not seen by my PC-PC is set to 1.1 USB-is this drive backwards compatible with USB 1.1? Also, My passport not seen by my Linux Ubuntu. Want to use portable drive to plug into any PC I work on so cant expect PCs to have USB ver 2.0 or be ONLY Windoze.

Thanks

AFAIK it should work, when you plug it in next run 'dmesg' after like 30s and see if there's any errors in the kernel logs.
