They manage 14TB PMR with just eight platters. Looks like they're using a new kind of head which is two dimensional and has two readers. 267 MB/sec is blistering performance.

I couldn't find it among a couple resellers yet. There is an entire model-line of the Ultrastar drives, through several generations. It's likely that entire model series was designed for Enterprise punishment.

I only noticed your thread at all because the Egg sent me an e-mail offering these for between ~$100 and $50, with a 4-days-remaining sale at $50:

Very curious about these drives. Bet they cost around $600. Or maybe $700 when they first come out and after a few months they drop the prices down to around $600.
