they had the black for $99 last week or maybe 2 weeks ago. for 90 I'd probably get the black for a little more.

I just ordered the Black last night, so as of 4/13 (Pacific Time, was just after midnight Central Time for me) the code still worked.

For the $10 I'd buy the Black for the extra warranty. Then again, if this deal was going on last night when I was looking for a big drive, I would have probably succumbed to my cheap-azz self and gotten this one. 😛

I don't know why WD insists on charging so much for a 5400RPM drive. If they were cost-competitive (as in a lot cheaper/GB than 7200RPM drives) I'd be running them in my server and all my machines that have secondary data drives. When I ordered that 1TB Black drive, I was looking at the 1.5TB Green ($160) and 2TB Green ($300). The 2TB model would be perfect for me if it was around $200. The 1.5TB drive is actually decent from a $/GB standpoint versus 1TB drives, but the Seagate 1.5TB drive totally spanks it in pricing.
